EMBSAY were thrashed by 143 runs on a disappointing afternoon at home to Denholme in Division One of the Mewies Craven Cricket League.

The visitors rattled up 271-8 at Embsay, as opening bowler Samuel Arkwright proved expensive in his 3-85. The home side were then dismissed for 128, despite Joe Holt's battling 48.

Crossflatts reached 194-7 at Sutton, with James McDonald taking 2-35 and a run out. The hosts responded with a creditable 170 as Sam Solley (38) top scored, but they were undone by spinner Wasim Hussain's 5-48.

Cowling are a point behind Division Two leaders Foulridge after despatching Chatburn by 73 runs. Ajmal Choudhry made 45 in their 182, before Sajid Shafait (5-25) and Shahid Hassan (5-33) skittled their opponents for 109.

Long Lee had few answers to Glusburn's Rummy Smith, who took 6-14 to dismiss them for 87 before Simon Frost thrashed 57no to see his side to a crushing 10-wicket victory.

Meanwhile, Cononley are clinging on to survival after a fine five-wicket home victory over Gargrave. John Beckwith (58) helped the visitors to 191, while Scott Brook took 4-17.

In reply, Herbie Starkey (92) and Billy Pinder (42no) took the relegation-threatened side to their vital victory.

Down in Division Three, Skipton CI’s Darren Pighills (5-23) and Paul Smith (3-18) caused a shock as they had second-placed Riddlesden under the cosh, dismissing them for just 98.

Sam Smith (45) and Ian Burke (32no) put on 80 for the first wicket in response as they cruised home by nine wickets.

Crossflatts II are now level with Riddlesden in third spot. They posted 211-5 at Sutton II despite Mickey Ruddock's economical figures of 2-39 from 11 overs. In reply, Tony Walton made 62 of his side's paltry 123.

Hepworth & Idle II made 155 on their travels to Thornton, as Dan Oldfield's fine 6-29 restricted them to a below-par total. The hosts subsequently strode to victory by six wickets, with Tom Cleaver (58no) leading the way.

Nine-man Embsay II mustered 144 at Bradley, with veteran Casper Bean making 52 as George Bell claimed 3-27. Dan Hunt (75) saw the home side to the points by six wickets.

Silsden went down by three wickets at Denholme to fall further behind Division Four leaders Chatburn II. They made 175-9 as Jack Roberts led the way with 33. Andy Pullen took 3-24 in the reply but to no avail.

Cowling II crumpled to 71 all out at the leaders. Steve Dalby (25) top scored but the home side strolled to a nine-wicket victory.

Hosts Gargrave II made 199 against Cononley II, with Adam Hudson (85) leading the way as James Nowell (5-21) and Paul Hogg (4-39) shared the wickets.

Visitors Cononley II replied with just 130 as Tom Saxby (4-27) and Tony Spensley (3-37) bowled well to secure a comfortable 69-run victory.

Finally, there were three concessions in the division, including Glusburn II conceding to Bradley II, and Oakworth III doing the same to Skipton CI II.
