THE annual Donington Park Classic Motorcycle Festival and Races took place earlier this month and Ingleton's Harley Rushton secured four victories to roar back into the Classic Racing Motorcycle Club championship fight.

In the four 350cc twins races, Rushton and Alan Oversby were battling for the race lead each time. They traded places throughout but the former always managed to finish ahead his rival.

The final race also saw searing pace from the pair on their Honda 350cc machines, and once Rushton led, he powered on to set a new course lap record.

The Craven Honda had secured four victories from four starts in the class, helping claw back Rushton's deficit in the championship fight.

The 23-year-old also competed in the 350cc post classic club races on the Craven TZ. Starting seventh, he had a good first race, securing a solid fourth-place finish.

He could only manage sixth second time around, before the engine seized upon crossing the finish. Despite an overnight rebuild, he was unable to complete the final two races in that class.

Rushton's first run on the 500cc Craven Manx Norton saw him secure fourth but the Ingleton rider crashed in race two and there was little time to repair the bike before the ACU Classic 500cc Championship race.

He made the start and slotted into second behind Joe Barton, eventually settling for an impressive third spot after tyre issues.

Later on, the third 500cc club race saw a three-way battle between the leaders and Rushton snuck through to take second place, before finishing third in the final race of that class to conclude the weekend's racing.

After thanking his team for their efforts, Rushton added: “Winning each on the four 350cc twin races and securing a new lap record on the Craven Honda was a great way to get back into the championship fight.

"After succeeding with what we wanted to achieve, we go towards the next round on September 8 and 9 at Mallory Park with a target of winning more races.

"I would like to thank everyone who has supported me this year and helped me achieve the results I did at Donington.”
