SILSDEN returned to the summit of the Hallmark Security League Premier Division after a dramatic late comeback saw them take three points from their trip to Winsford United.

The Cobbydalers, who were second going into the game, appeared to be on course for a regulation win against the Cheshire outfit, who were third from bottom.

Danny Forrest’s men broke the deadlock in the fifth minute when Reece Lyndon headed in a flicked-on free-kick.

They took that one-goal lead into the half-time interval, but the home side turned the game with two goals inside seven minutes just after the hour.

Scott Taylor netted the equaliser, and soon after Peter Watling gave Winsford the lead.

Forrest’s men had to be patient, and that paid off when Joe Mitchell levelled in the 83rd minute.

Kyle Hancock then struck a penultimate-minute winner with a shot into the top corner.

Silsden reclaimed top spot as City of Liverpool were in FA Cup action, with the Merseyside outfit losing 4-0 at Vanarama National League North side Chester.

Steeton dropped one place to tenth in Division One North after a 3-1 defeat at Prestwich Heys saw the Manchester-based outfit leapfrog them into ninth.

Heys took a 17th-minute lead through Lee Grimshaw but Angus Manet levelled ten minutes before half-time.

The Chevrons were behind again after Justin Pickering scored with a little over a quarter of an hour remaining, and Theo Kidd’s 87th-minute strike put the gloss on Prestwich’s victory.
