West Didsbury & Chorlton 2 Barnoldswick Town 3

ANDREW Hill scored an 80th minute winner as Barnoldswick Town came from behind to win a thriller 3-2 at West Didsbury & Chorlton in the Hallmark Security League Premier Division.

The win is Town's third in succession and it moves them into fourth place, with 22 points from 11 games. They started badly on Tuesday though, with their hosts taking the lead after just four minutes through Scott Mason.

Barnoldswick came back strongly and after Shaun Airey had planted a free header wide, Zack Dale showed him how to do it by nodding home Nathan Emery's cross.

Hill played Emery in after half an hour but the Australian's strike hit the side-netting, before the normally reliable Town goalkeeper Ryan Livesey missed his clearance to gift Saul Henderson a tap in for 2-1.

Dale was denied either side of half-time by good goalkeeping from West Didsbury's Marcus Burgess, while the hosts thundered a stunning overhead kick off the crossbar.

Barnoldswick equalised for the second time with 20 minutes to go, after Zack Dale was pushed over trying to meet a cross. Jack Coop stepped up to bury the spot-kick past Burgess.

After going close with a free kick, Town's winner came courtesy of a fine ball through from Ethan Kershaw. He found Hill, who still had plenty to do, but he fired home brilliantly.

The visitors held out to claim a vital three points, and they will hope for another maximum haul on Saturday, when they welcome lowly Irlam to the Silentnight Stadium.
