NORTH Ribblesdale under-15s went down to their first home defeat of the season, a 32-21 loss to a strong Kirkby Lonsdale side on Sunday.

Opening exchanges were evenly matched, with some strong running in the backs by Kirkby being met with fierce tackling from Ribb.

Kirkby's willingness to loop created overlaps, and they twice profited, Ribb replying with a single darted effort from lock Harry Mathew before half-time.

After the break, Kirkby's superior fitness and strength in the pack told, as they ran in another four tries to Ribb's two, a tenacious effort from centre Nelson, and a second try for Man of the Match Harry Mathew.

North Ribb also bowed out of the Yorkshire Cup with a 29-17 loss at Pocklington last week.

The teams were well matched, but Ribb went in 15-0 down at the break.

In the second half, winger and Man of the Match Flynn Wake darted in a short range touchdown, followed soon after by fullback Harris Dinsdale.

Flynn's second of the game, a searing length of the field effort, was not enough though as Ribb lost by 12 points.
