FARSLEY Celtic remain fifth in the Evo-Stik Premier Division after being held to a 2-2 away draw by Stalybridge Celtic at Bower Fold.

Adam Lakeland’s Farsley twice took the lead in the battle of the Celts but the home side came back on both occasions, as Ross Dent bagged a brace to keep Stalybridge within two points of their namesakes.

Farsley broke the deadlock in the 19th minute when Will Hayhurst lashed a shot past home keeper Paddy Wharton. Hayhurst pounced after three goal bound efforts in the same attack had been blocked by the Stalybridge defence.

The home side came within a whisker of equalising just two minutes later as Neil Kengni’s rasping shot hit the bar.

Jimmy Spencer then missed a glorious chance to double the visitors’ lead in the 26th minute and they were made to pay as Dent deflected a shot from Glenn Rule past Farsley keeper Kyle Trenerry minutes before the interval.

Farsley's early second half pressure told as Stalybridge keeper Wharton was beaten again just nine minutes after the break. The keeper was left frustrated as he made a good parry only to see Spencer clip the rebound in.

The visitors had the chance to take a two goal lead but Ben Atkinson hit a post in the 61st minute and just three minutes later the home side netted their second equaliser.

Kengni claimed the assist as his cross picked out Dent who beat Trenerry with a close range volley to earn Stalybridge a share of the spoils.

Brighouse Town earned another three point maximum in Division One East following a narrow 1-0 victory at newcomers AFC Mansfield, who have lost three in a row after a decent start.

Town's James Hurtley netted the only goal of the game at the Forest Town Arena, converting Sam Wright’s 33rd minute corner with a low volley.

Brighouse had hit the bar in the third minute, Ousman Cham being denied by the woodwork, and Hurtley went close twice in the second half as the visitors earned their sixth victory of the season to keep them in third place.
