ROSS Peltier is confident the Bulls will do the Championship justice next year.

The forward enjoyed a breakthrough season in helping them win promotion from League One at the first attempt.

And he believes they have the quality to take the step-up in their stride in 2019.

Peltier said: “If you look at the points we got last year, take away the minus 12 penalty and we would have survived. We weren’t the worst team in that league by far.

“So, with the lads that are staying on and the ones that will be added to the squad, I think we’ll have another good year.

“It’s about gaining some momentum in the Championship.

“We’re not saying we’re going to go up or be in the top four. It’s just about building.

“But I think it’s going to be an exciting year for the club.”

With the Championship expanding to 14 teams next season, promotion will be settled through a play-off system involving the top five.

Peltier believes the new format, which replaces the “middle eights” involving the bottom four teams in Super League, is a positive change.

He added: “The new set-up opens it up massively. I think the restructure is right and it will work better.

“You’re only going up against what is in your league so we’ve got a good chance going forward to progress back to Super League.

“I want to be part of that and trying to do my best to stay here.

“A lot of people questioned the size of our pack this year but I think the boys stood up to it.”
