BRIGHOUSE Town U21s moved into third place in the West Riding County FA Development League Premier Division as a result of their 5-1 home win against Tadcaster Albion i2i ISA (Blue).

Town started very well, but then the game evened out with both sides playing some good football.

The hosts gradually took control of the match, especially as the Tadcaster back four struggled against their pressing game, and eventually they scored the first goal.

Brighouse then took their foot off the pedal and Tadcaster duly equalised. This spurred Town on and their opponents found it hard to contain their three strikers.

The home side deservedly went ahead and increased their lead from the penalty spot. The Tadcaster centre back was sent off after giving away the spot kick for his second yellow card.

Town led 3-1 at half-time but in the second period, Tadcaster played with everyone behind the ball and they tried to hit Brighouse on the break.

The hosts scored twice more before Albion had another player sent off in the final minutes, through frustration. The Brighouse scorers in their huge victory were Kaine Hall (2), Regan Metcalf (2) and Finn Donovan.

Barry Thomas, Town's assistant manager, said: "We gave an excellent performance all round with the whole team putting in a near perfect display."

Meanwhile, Bradford (Park Avenue) U19s went out of the Northern Alliance League Cup with a 2-0 defeat at the Horsfall Stadium against Nostell Miners Welfare.

Avenue could have taken the lead but Jordan Botwood and Matt Rowntree failed to take their chances.

Nostell went ahead with an excellent finish and the game became stretched in the second half, with some fine defending and goalkeeping on display.

A good passing move from Bradford resulted in an outstanding save from the Nostell goalkeeper and as Avenue searched for an equaliser, the visitors sealed the tie with another goal.

Alex Meechan, the Avenue manager, said: "We gave a much better performance than our recent displays, in a very entertaining game."
