BARNOLDSWICK Town suffered a 4-0 defeat at Bootle on Saturday.

The match featured the debut of new Barnoldswick Town signing Lewis Morgan.

In the ninth minute, Town had one of the first chances when a Bootle defender handled in the box.

Andrew Hill took the penalty but it was saved by Bootle keeper Jack McGovern.

Ryan Cox then netted for the home side in the 16th minute to put Bootle 1-0 up.

While Barlick were finding chances few and far between, the home side had two more good chances before half-time but the score remained 1-0 at the break.

A brace of goals from Bootle's Steven Jones in the 49th and 67th minutes put the game out of Town's reach, and an Elliott Nevitt in the 90th minute sealed a 4-0 victory for the home team.

Barnoldswick Town remain fifth in the Hallmark Security League Premier Division table on 23 points, one point ahead of Bootle.

They entertain West Didsbury and Chorlton at Silentnight Stadium this Saturday.

News was better for Barnoldswick Town's two East Lancashire League sides on Saturday, as the First Division Town team beat Waddington 2-1.

Town drew first blood in the 31st minute when Bailey Coates released James Hughes with a perfect through ball. The young striker made no mistake scoring with an accomplished finish.

Town were then beset by injuries to two of their most influential players, as both George Skocki and Oliver Venn were sidelined.

After a Waddington equaliser in the 53rd minute, Town's battling performance paid dividends in the 81st minute when Jake Hartley lobbed the ball over the visitors' goalkeeper to score from 25 yards out.

Barnoldswick Town's Reserves beat Oswaldtwistle St Mary's 3-0, with goals coming from Scott Wainman, Sam Parry and Lucas Ansel.
