A NUMBER of sports matches across Craven had to be called off because of waterlogged pitches or adverse weather conditions on Saturday.

All 17 games in the Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven and District Football League were postponed, including six cup games and 11 league matches across three divisions.

A number of third round Macron Cup matches and several league games in the Hallmark Security League were also postponed because of the weather or waterlogged pitches, including Barnoldswick Town's home Macron Cup against Eccleshall, which was re-scheduled to Tuesday.

Steeton's match against Ashton Town at Cougar Park in Keighley also had to be postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

Football was not the only sport affected, as Skipton RFC's match at Sheffield Medicals also had to be cancelled because of a waterlogged pitch.
