Goole 44

North Ribblesdale 0

NORTH Ribblesdale conceded 33 points in a poor second half performance that seen them lose 44-0 at table toppers Goole on Saturday.

Playing into a strong breeze, Ribb were soon on the back foot as Goole's Ryan Moore played for position.

Ribb won the ball back but were pinged for not releasing and Moore opened his account.

He added to this with a well-executed long range drop goal to give the home side a 6-0 lead.

Ribb's best period followed as both their line-out and scrummage were working well.

Only a stalwart Goole defence kept them at bay as Jim Tunney, Will Booth, Matty Close and Fromm Reimana all went within inches.

Ribb did all they could, but try as they might a score just would not come.

Ribb seemed to have the measure of the home pack but their backs looked dangerous on the counter attack and quickfire winger S Smith broke away from 60 metres to score and give Goole an 11-0 half-time advantage.

With the breeze at their backs, Ribb were still in the contest but a leg injury to Ryan Sumner resulted in a re-shuffle in the backs and several missed tackles meant it was one-way traffic for the last 30 minutes.

The highlight for Goole was a hat-trick of tries from classy centre Matt Lill. There were further tries by winger S Smith and flanker Chantry and four conversions by Moore completed a miserable afternoon for Ribb.

Ribb centre Jonny Moore worked tirelessly in defence and looked threatening with ball in hand and Jim Tunney and Reimana were the pick of the forwards.

Ribb's one-on-one tackling needs to improve across the board to reverse the recent run of disappointing results.

This Saturday is a blank weekend before the improved Yarnbury are next up at Grove Park on Saturday, February 9.
