SKIPTON Swimming Club's 15/16 boys them won a nail-biting race to claim a gold medal in the 2019 Malcolm Hill Yorkshire Swimming Association Team Championships at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield.

The Skipton team of Archie Minto, Archie Dunne, Ned Sharp and Zeb Heyes were in second place going into the final, and faced a nail-biting four lengths in the 50-metre pool against Premier Club City of Leeds A.

It was a fantastic battle between the two clubs, with the Skipton team coming in first place by 0.44 of a second.

The team also went on to claim victory in the 15/16 medley race, with the boys swimming a leg each of backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle.

The boys 13/14 team of Harvey Pennington, Jack Jenkinson, Will Oliver and Keelan Beehan also had an amazing swim in their final and won a bronze medal.

Other Skipton teams who competed at the championships included the 11-12 girls team of Fennella Turner, Phoebe Roe, Lily Long Prior and Amelia Redfearn, the 11-12 boys teams featuring Sam Smith, Joe Burgess, James West, Harry Cockburn, Rowan Box, Archie Appleby, Harry Forrest and Harris Thompson and the 13-14 girls team of Lily-Mae Pratt, Kate Fenton, Charlotte Kenneth and Sohpia Basaraba.
