STEETON travel to Chadderton tomorrow and are looking to get back to winning ways after a series of draws and narrow defeats mean its 11 games since The Chevrons last tasted victory.

They are boosted by the return of skipper Tim Hird, who has been injured since the end of last year, after fracturing a cheekbone in the away trip to Shelley.

They had a free weekend last week and manager Roy Mason thinks that this might have done them good.

He said: "Losing in the way that we did against Cleator Moor Celtic a couple of weeks ago was a tough pill us to swallow, but it has allowed us to get back on the training ground and look to address a few issues that we have faced and also get back to basics and look at a few things that I think we can be doing better both with and without the ball."

It has been a long season and the Steeton squad has been stretched to the limits latterly with injuries to key players, notably Hird, Angus Maney, Aaron Davis and leading scorer, Andy Briggs, who this week has now been ruled out for the season following a hand injury sustained against Prestwich Heys.

Mason is hoping that there will be a number of supporters travelling over from Steeton.

He added: "It would be great to take a few supporters over and get behind the players tomorrow, as the supporters really can be our twelfth man as we look to get out of this current run that we are in and I know that they players really appreciate the support that they have had this season for away games."

For supporters wanting to go to the game Chadderton play at Ark Stadium, Andrew Street, Oldham, OL9 0JT.
