COLIN Green's victory in the Winter League Stableford at Settle Golf Club last weekend was reward for the persistence he has shown supporting most of the competitions throughout the winter.
In a closely fought event, just one point separated the top five competitors.
Green and his playing partner John Terry both finished with 32 points, but the former took the spoils by virtue of having the better back nine.
The Eccleston brothers, Peter and Frankie, made a great return to competitive golf, both coming home with a very respectable 31 points.
However, both will rue the fact that neither of them managed to score a single point on the 18th hole.
John Read played his usual consistent game and the five Winter League points he picked up cemented his position as leader of the overall competition, which comes to its conclusion this weekend.
