A FINAL quarter surge by Wharfedale 4ths saw them beat Keighley 3rds 50-19 at the weekend.
The game was played in perfect conditions by two teams who both had a good mix if youth and experience.
The final score was not assured until the final quarter.
The first half saw both sides score in a ding dong battle with Wharfedale just edging ahead 26-19 on the stroke of half-time.
Both sides had a good supply of substitutes and all got some good game time with rolling replacements.
In the second half, Wharfedale playing down the slope, began to gain the upper hand and gradually built up a lead.
As Keighley tired, Wharfedale sealed the game with some good late scores.
P Cockcroft (2), R Aldersley (2), T Oaks, B Viner, M Tywang and J Davies all scored tries for Wharfedale and Davies had five conversions.
