A DEPLETED Barnoldswick Town side lost 2-0 at 1874 Northwich on Tuesday.

Town were without a number of players with four suspensions robbing the team of Andy Hill, Teal Amos, James Crorken and Sam Amankwaa.

With injuries also taking their toll, Town went into this game missing a few as were 1874 Northwich, who have a cup semi-final with local rivals Northwich Victoria tonight.

Town handed a debut to recent signing Tom Goodall, and also playing the first time for a while was James Hughes.

Bailey Coates was also on the bench was Bailey Coates, which meant there was three players in the squad that had played for the juniors.

The game was played on a poor surface, but both sides tried to play out from the back.

Leading goal scorer Zack Dale played a little deeper and pulled the strings for Town and it was from one of his through balls that Hughes found himself one-on-one, but the keeper made a great save.

There were half chances for both sides but at half-time the score remained 0-0.

In the second half, both sides came out again and tried to play football, Kian Yari in particular stood out for Town in the centre midfield.

The Northwich side, missing their main man Scott Mcgowern, started to come into the game and forced Ryan Livesey to make a couple of saves.

Eventually though, the pressure built and told and Northwich took the lead when Samuel Hind scored with a smart finish across Livesey into the far corner in the 74 minute.

Manager Matt Barnes, Coates and Thomas Maplesden were all introduced but to no avail, as Northwich sealed the win in the 80th minute through Matt Woodley.

With no game on Saturday, Town will host Congleton Town next Tuesday at Silentnight Stadium. Kick-off is at 8pm.
