CRAVEN CHALLENGE CUP
Grassington United 2
Rimington 2
Rimington won 4-2 on penalties
RIMINGTON came from behind and then won a penalty shoot-out against Grassington United to book their place in the final of the Craven FA Challenge Cup.
Both Grassington and Rimington had several team changes due to injuries.
Grassington started brightly and took a deserved lead with a delightful chip from Ben Schindler and just before half-time Oscar Canny took advantage of poor marking to head home from a free-kick.
After the break, Grassington missed a glorious opportunity to increase their lead and in a rousing comeback Rimington reduced the arrears with a close range
goal.
With time ticking away, a Rimington equaliser followed direct from a corner to send the game into a penalty shoot-out, with James Scriven being the hero for Rimington with two fine saves.
The Craven FA Challenge Cup final will be held on Friday, May 10, at Skipton Town's ground, Engine Shed Lane.
Rimington's opponents will be decided on Thursday, April 25, when the second semi-final between Carleton Sports and Settle United is played at Gargrave. Kick-off is 6.30pm.
