SKIPTON Swimming Club's Ned Sharp of Long Preston competed at the open 2019 British Swimming Championships held in Glasgow.

Sharp, 15, qualified to race in four events; 50m and 100m freestyle and 50m and 100m butterfly at Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

This event showcases the best of British talent with the likes of Adam Peaty, Duncan Scott, Max Lichfield and Alys Thomas to name but a few, all aspiring to be crowned British champion.

Sharp’s first event was 100m freestyle where he was close to his personal best in a time of 53.5, making him third 16 year old.

He raced fast in 100m butterfly, being rewarded with a personal best in a time of 57.26, and again was the third 16 year old (16th in the junior age group; age 18 and under).

The penultimate race for Sharp was the fast-paced 50m freestyle sprint, in which he achieved a personal best of 24.6 making him the second 16 year old.

The final event on the last day was 50m butterfly, which he did in 26.02 holding on to No 1 position for the 16 year age group (13th in the junior age group category).
