DAVID Cope has been appointed Steeton's reserve team manager.

He has been manager of Littletown FC most recently and brings a wealth of experience from his involvement with clubs at NCEL level.

Cope's current role is with Leeds United Development which he will continue alongside his role at Steeton.

Roy Mason, Steeton's first-team manager, said: "Once I spoke to David over the weekend and outlined our plans for the club, it was clear that we both had the same ambitions.

"David is what I call a real football man and is someone that I have always enjoyed chatting too when our paths crossed during his time at Littletown and I know that he shares my vision of recruiting and developing the best young players in the area.

"It is a new start for the reserves this season with us moving into the Yorkshire Amateur League and I think that Steeton offers a great platform for young players to progress.

"We are already recruiting for next season for both the first team and the reserves and David's contacts and connections will play a big part in that."

The club will make further announcements to David's backroom staff in due course.
