JIMMY Lund, a former student at Ermysteds Grammar School in Skipton, competed in his first senior British Triathlon Elite Super Series race on Sunday at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire.

The sprint distance race consisted of a 750 metre swim a 19.8km bike and 5.4 km run.

Lund, 19, who is from Keighley, was second out of the swim in a time of nine minutes and four seconds, his bike ride was completed in 29 minutes and eight seconds and he completed the 5.4km run in 19 minutes 59 seconds.

He finished in seventh place in a time of one hour, one minute and 49 seconds.

The next race in the super series is the Cardiff Triathlon on Sunday, June 23, where Lund hopes to improve on his performance.

Lund continues to train with the Loughborough Triathlon Performance Centre squad while studying for a degree in Sports and Exercise Science at Loughborough University.

This year he has already attended two training camps with the LTPC squad in Portugal, and will be attending an altitude camp in Livigno, which is located in the Lombardy region of the Italian Alps, near the Swiss border from July 16 to August 13.

He continues to receive expert advice and assistance from Stuart Rider of Riders Cycle Centre in Skipton, who has recently built his new racing bike, and from running coach John Dennis of Keighley and Craven AC.
