SKIPTON and Northcliffe have made it through to the Yorkshire Union Third Division Championship.

The Bradford Union clubs were among the six teams to qualify at a wet Scarcroft Golf Club yesterday.

In the Fourth Division event reduced to 18 holes due to the rainy conditions, Northcliffe finished fourth - two shots ahead of Skipton, who have reached the Third Division for the first time.

Rob Malloy (76), Zac Gartland (77) and James Darcy (79) made up Northcliffe's aggregate of 232, while Max Berrisford (74), Gavin Stocker (77) and Harry Ayrton (83) were Skipton's scorers.

Scarborough North Cliff won the event on 225, while Halifax Bradley Hall (230), Lindrick (231) and Dewsbury & District (235) also qualified for the next stage at Bedale, which takes place on Wednesday, June 26.

Woodhall Hills and South Bradford missed out on qualification but Hills' Ben Rhodes had the honour of the best individual score.

His 73 followed on the back of rounds of 71,73 at Scarborough North Cliff, which was also the best 36-hole total in the Fifth Division last month.
