THE entire Ribblesdale League Saturday programme was washed out for the third time this season.

Two of these weekends will be played on later dates but from now on clubs will have to make do with three points for abandonments.

Barnoldswick and Earby played an entertaining Ribblesdale Cricket League 20/20 group match last Friday until the rains forced it to be abandoned.

Opener Chalana De Silva was the only player for Barnoldswick to score in double figures, as he hit 41 off 39 balls.

Extras actually accounted for 42 of the Barlick runs, as Earby's bowling attack featured 35 wides and four no balls.

However, they also took 10 wickets, bowling Barnoldswick out for 119, as Jake Hargreaves took 5-22, and Chamikara Edirisinghe and Girvacques De Jager took 3-10 and 2-19, respectively.

In Earby's reply, De Jager hit an aggressive 24no, notching up three fours and two sixes off 12 balls, as the rains came with Earby on 40-0 after just four overs.

Fortunately for Settle third team, some play was possible on Sunday when they travelled to table-topping Brinscall in the Division Three competition.

The hosts elected to bat and Settle skipper Nick Tyrer upheld the spirit of a Development eleven by giving nine of his men a bowl. Angus Ogden immediately removed an opener but wickets were hard to come by as Brinscall made 181-5 from 39 overs.

The reply featured sound knocks from Ogden (14) and Harris Dinsdale (15), while Freddie Spensley provided the backbone of the innings with a career-best innings of 34.

Chasing a revised total of 128 from 24 overs, Settle ended on 103-5 but picked up useful points to land them in the top half of the table.

On Friday evening Settle firsts entertain Padiham in Group One of the 20/20 competition, and next day welcome struggling Baxenden in the Senior League.

On Sunday they are on the road for the rearranged fixture at Whalley. Settle II travel to Craven rivals Barnoldswick, while Settle III play host to Euxton.
