Probe launched after Barrowford walk off in Craven League clash

Haworth Road are on top of the division after a narrow victory by three runs over Sutton.

Haworth Road had staggered to 126 against some excellent bowling by Justin Holdsworth (4-39) and James McDonald (3-23).

Sutton were cruising to victory at 111-6 when Zahir Abbas (5-36) returned to the attack and wiped out the tale to leave them three runs short of their target.

Crossflatts are second after blitzing Foulridge up at Noyna.

Bright Njanji blasted 149 and James Roper 44 as the pair put on 106 for the second wicket.

The innings closed on 303-9 with Shahbaz Munir and Muhammad Atique taking three wickets each.

Foulridge were blown away for just 90 with Brad Cady (29) top scoring as Alex Bradbury (3-20) and Njanji (2-7) were the pick of the bowlers.

Cowling enjoyed a 10-run victory over Denholme at Keighley Road.

Cowling went first and posted 162 with Mark Adams (38) leading the way as the wickets were shared between the bowlers.

Denholme fell just short despite a splendid knock by Matt Wear (100no) which included 12 fours and two sixes. Raees Hussain finished with 3-40.

Haworth were in cracking form as they saw off Ingrow by nine wickets at West Lane.

Ingrow had Dan Scott (59) to thank for getting to 144 as Stuart Jackson (4-47) and Steve Bell (3-33) took the bowling plaudits.

Jamie Rowell (58no) and Dan Trowers (54no) put on 114 for the second wicket to steer Haworth to the points.

There was a run fest at Cure Hill with 538 runs scored.

The majority of those (295-9) were fired by Oakworth with Robert Hollingsworth making 85 and Lucas Keslinki 49 as Sam Arkwright finished with 6-48.

Visitors Embsay made a decent fist of the reply (243-9) with Dave Wellock (58) and Ben Davey (49) being the top scores as Tom Fothergill finished with 3-62.

In Division Two, leaders Hepworth & Idle entertained Bradford & Bingley III who, batting first, struggled to 117 with Shahbaz Ahmed making 26 as Chris Mitchell claimed 4-25 and Jonathan Thompson 4-28.

Hepworth got home by four wickets thanks mainly to Thomas Gadd (51no) as Ayaz Butt (3-24) and Ahmed (3-56) took the wickets to fall.

In second spot are Long Lee after seeing off Haworth Road II at Golden View.

Long Lee rattled up 241-7 with Paul Stowell (64), Lee Humphreys (59) and Mark Day (53) in the runs as Ali Asguar (4-39) was the best bowler.

Haworth Road only muster 138 in reply. Waj Mahmood top scored with 29 as Steve Butterfield (4-35) and Ian Roberts (3-40) did most of the damage.

Eldwick & Gilstead's trip over the border proved successful as they beat Barrowford II by 62 runs.

Eldwick posted 150 with Matt Sharp top scoring with 21, as Vic Sunil claimed 4-25. Barrowford were shot out for 88 with Arnie Raistrick (4-18) and Sharp (3-23) being the most successful bowlers.

Crossflatts II good form continued as they saw off Cononley at Rhysworth Park.

Michael Bailey (54), Brian Freimanis (50) and Lee Bailey (40no) saw Crossflatts to 217-7 as Matt Phillips took 4-33 and Scott Brook 3-64.

Cononley made 139 in reply with Nathan Parker (43), Rob Brook (31) and extras (29) being the main contributors as Vijay Amirtharaj claimed 5-23 and Craig Durn 3-17.

Airedale’s visit to Gargrave proved fruitless as they lost by six wickets.

Alex Pue made 34 as Will Smith took 3-18 and John Beckwith 3-21 in their innings of 113-9.

Gargrave cruised home with Tim Wilman 39no and Simon Chapman 29no garnering the points.

Other than the fact that Wilsden won by two wickets along the road at Sandy Lane, player performances are not known.
