THE Yorkshire Centre Team Trial at Tong was just about a Yeadon-Guiseley Motor Club clean sweep.

The club fielded a top line Expert class in brothers Dan and Ben Hemingway, aided by Sam Yeadon, who returned a total score of 37 penalties.

Those mathematics for three laps and 14 sections in the Parkwood Offroad Centre were stunning and 67 penalties less than Y- G Inter team of Louis Haley, Danny Cockshott and Thomas Housecroft.

Only the Richmond Motor Club novice trial of Aldis Blacker, Ryan Brown and Robert Weatherill prevented a total whitewash by the Yeadon-Guiseley Club.

Eight clubs field a total of 84 competitors of which a dozen failed to complete the course.

The results produced Embsay motorcycle instructor Aran Drachenberg as the overall winner though not a team member with the winning Expert team of Ben Hemingway, Sam Yeadon and Dan Hemingway in the next three places.

Drachenberg competed as a member of the Y-G number two team of Tom Rushton and Jamie Stephenson.

A barnstorming ride by Guiseley’s Louis Haley put the Inter class into Y-G hands.

Team colleagues Danny Cockshott and Thomas Housecroft gave their front verbal support at every section.

The Y-G trio of Tom Middleton, John Lydamore and Boyd Webster completed a virtual clean sweep by winning the Novice team award. Verdict- a perfect day in perfect weather.

Meanwhile, at the North East Centre ACU Ladies and Girls Championship trial, Sílsden’s Gabby Whitham competed in the Belle Trailers Ladies and Girls British Trials Championship at remote Long Framlington on Saturday and Sunday.

Riding her Team Hippel Racing Inch Perfect Beta, Whitham scored 22 championship points.

She missed the first event while recovering from two knee operations and an appendix removal operation.

Despite the missed event she is ranked sixth in her class. An error in the last section cost Whitham fourth place.

On Tuesday she headed for Portugal with her mother Kimand and father Paul to compete in the FIM World Ladies Championship on Saturday.

Barnoldswick teen Lucy Ayrton rode consistently on both days to score 19 points which takes her overall score to 36 points.

Bethanie Dunning, of Bingley, was the top scorer with two second placings in the Ladies Inter class.

Just two penalties on each day kept Dunning from claiming the top step on the rostrum.

Meanwhile, Glasshouses electrician Danny Gamble switched on the style to win the third Norman Crooks Trophy trial in sunny Nidderdale on Saturday evening, where 40 competitors contended the Wetherby Motor Club’s event at Toft Gate Farm near Greenhow.
