ADDINGHAM’S Hermione Roe, a pupil at Woodhouse Grove School, won double gold to be crowned champion at the 2019 British Swimming Championships in Tollcross Glasgow, Scotland.
Roe won the women's 13/14 category in the 50m breaststroke in a time of 33.75 and the 100m breaststroke in a time of 1:12.84.
The weeklong championships started on July 23, as a strong Stockport squad of more than 25 swimmers travelled north.
The team then travelled to Ponds Forge in Sheffield to compete in the 2019 Swim England Summer Meet, where she also won double gold to be crowned English national champion in age 14 categories.
She won the 200m freestyle in 2:08.17 and 400m freestyle 4:28.55. She also received a silver medal, finishing second in the 50m freestyle in 27.64.
Roe moved to Stockport Metro Swimming Club to train and swim with some of Britain’s top senior elite swimmers.
This move to Stockport was to further her long-term career and join a long-course swimming programme.
Roe is in the international squad, training nine times a week at Grand Central Stockport under head coach Richard Blackshaw.
She still competes locally with Bradford Swimming Club, swimming in local events under head coach Sara Beaumont.
