* Barnoldswick Town's East Lancashire League side beat Prairie United 3-1 at Burnley on Saturday.

The visitors took the lead after 15 minutes when James Hughes latched on to a fine through ball from the outstanding Liam Jones to fire the ball past the Prairie goalkeeper.

Town extended their lead on 32 minutes when Bailey Coates released Nathan Taylforth, who calmly slotted the ball past the advancing keeper to give Town a comfortable 2-0 half-time lead.

Coates showed exceptional skill when rounding three home defenders and curling the ball on to the angle of bar and post just after the interval. Millimetres prevented him from scoring a superb goal.

But he made no mistake though on 63 minutes when he was on to a misplaced backpass before rounding the keeper and rolling the ball into an empty net.

Prairie sensed a large defeat and upped their game, pressing hard to reduce the arrears from mid way through the second half. They were rewarded on 65 minutes when they scored with a fine shot from 20 yards out.

The ever dependable Adam Wormwell prevented Prairie from getting right back in to the game on 82 minutes with a superb save.
