BARNOLDSWICK Town lost 4-2 to a very good Whitchurch Alport side at Silentnight Stadium on Saturday.

Stephen Jones put Alport up 1-0 after five minutes.

Town had chances and took advantage of one of them when new signing Samuel Amankwaa equalised in the 39th minute.

After a 1-1 scoreline at half-time, Jud Ellis gave Alport the lead with a goal in 54th minute.

Jones then got his brace with a strike that put the visitors 3-1 up on 58 minutes.

Substitute Reece Barrett pulled one back for Town in the 78th minute, but then a goal by David Howarth in the 89th minute sealed the victory for Alport, who moved up to second in the Premier Division of the North West Counties League.

The loss dropped Barnoldswick to tenth in the table on 14 points going into their West Riding County Cup against Silsden at Silentnight Stadium on Tuesday.
