Rotherham Phoenix 26

Skipton 25

SKIPTON made the long journey to South Yorkshire and lost by the narrowest of margins in an incredibly close game at the Herringthorpe Playing Fields, but came away with two losing bonus points to add to their Division Three tally.

Tries from Tom Harrison, this week starting on the wing for the Reds, Tom Lacey, off the bench at No 19, inside centre Ra Neha and hooker Ryan Chafer secured the bonus league points, with a conversion by skipper Hamish Munro and a penalty goal from Neha bringing Skipton's total to 25.

So near yet so far, to the frustration of the travelling away supporters who had nevertheless witnessed a thoroughly enjoyable game.

This Saturday, Skipton continue their Yorkshire Three campaign at home to Halifax Vandals. Kick-off is at 3pm.
