Aaron Connolly has been withdrawn from the Republic of Ireland squad due to a groin injury.
The striker misses a friendly against New Zealand and Euro 2020 qualifier versus Denmark over the course of the next week.
Albion fans will now hope he is all clear to face Leicester City when Premier League action resumes a week on Saturday.
Irish boss Mick McCarthy told the FAI website: “Our team doctor Alan Byrne has spoken to the Brighton medical team and had a look at the scans.
“The scans have confirmed the groin injury and Aaron won’t be ready in time for New Zealand and Denmark.”
