INGLETON'S Esmeè Holgate won the Rising Star accolade at the 2019 Cumbria’s 40th Sports Awards.
Holgate, 14, this month was recognised for her sporting achievements and potential in British Judo in a prestigious ceremony at the Low Wood Windermere.
The event was hosted by Active Cumbria, who this year celebrate 40 years of Cumbrian talent.
Holgate was thrilled to win the award, which has previously been awarded to the inspirational Ben Stokes, England's cricket hero and the 2019 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
Holgate has won three medals for England this year and is the British Schools champion.
