A SECOND half penalty saw North Ribblesdale Under-16s advance to the final of the Under-16's Yorkshire Plate with a 3-0 win against Moortown on Sunday.

The two completed the twice postponed cup semi-final in mixed conditions at the Eshton's pitch in Giggleswick.

Despite a lack of recent game time both teams looked sharp and well drilled.

Neither side were able to deploy their backs to much effect on the stodgy pitch.

It was the back row of Harris Dinsdale, Adam Dunwell and Dan Wills who most caught the eye for Ribb as their mobility and work rate shone.

Ribb's superior discipline paid dividends 10 minutes into the second half when fly-half Freddie Spensley slotted a penalty, awarded for a high challenge.

These were to be the only points scored in an incredible defensive display from both teams.

Dunwell and Dinsdale were named men-of-the-match.
Captain Harry Mathew will lead the team out in the final on the weekend of April 25/26.
