SETTLE and Ribblesdale Wanderers are the only unbeaten teams in the Ribblesdale League.

The Marshfield side hosted Padiham, who must have regretted electing to bat first. After just an hour’s play they were on 33-9 and it was only a last-wicket thrash by Jimmy Gray (23no) which gave his team any hope.

Settle’s pacemen Simon Tarbox, Eddy Read and Tom Davidson swept through the visitors’ line-up with three wickets apiece, Tarbox’s only costing 14 runs from eight overs. The other wicket fell when Benjamin Hulse made a stunning direct hit to run out Bradley Graham.

Settle have previous form, losing wickets cheaply while chasing low totals, and they once again gave their supporters something to worry about with five men back in the pavilion with only 15 runs between them, facing a target of just 59.

Tom Davidson soon put minds at rest with an unbeaten knock of 23 to leave the hosts on 34 points in the Senior table, two behind leaders Wanderers. Settle now look forward to their trip to fourth-placed Feniscowles this Saturday.

Barnoldswick set 123 against Read but it was not enough in the end as the visitors reached the target with four overs to spare.

Despite each Barlick bowling gaining two wickets, William Wrathall's 61 proved to be the difference.

Earby's struggles continued at the bottom of the table after they suffered a 84-run defeat at Feniscowles.

Luke Hipgrave's 4-31 the only highlight for Earby as the hosts' 178 score was just too big to catch.
