DUANNE Olivier sparked a memorable Yorkshire bowling display as, defending a target of 188, they skittled Nottinghamshire for just 97 at Trent Bridge to secure back-to-back Bob Willis Trophy victories.

South African new ball quick Olivier claimed three early wickets either side of lunch on day four as the hosts slipped to 61-4 and failed to recover.

He finished with 3-29 from 10 overs, while Jordan Thompson claimed 3-6 from five to claim 21 points which puts Yorkshire within only four of North Group leaders Derbyshire.

The two best winners of the three six-team groups progresses through to the final at the end of the season, and Yorkshire host Derbyshire in a key fixture at Emerald Headingley on Saturday.

Both sides are the only two who have won both of their games so far in the North.

Dom Leech, Steve Patterson and off-spinner Jack Shutt - twice - also claimed wickets as the hosts lost their last seven wickets for 36 runs in 13 overs. The 90-run victory was secured just before 3pm

This game marginally favoured Notts when they were set 188 to win in 77 overs midway through the fourth morning.

Although the pitch had been used for both Notts’ home games (Derbyshire last weekend as well), it has not played like a batsman’s graveyard.

But Yorkshire turned the tide in stunning fashion to back up their opening win against Durham at the Riverside.

The day started with the visitors bowled out for 278 in their second innings, advancing from 259-7 overnight.

The White Rose lost their final three wickets, for the addition of 19 runs, in the opening 10.2 overs of play.

Jonny Tattersall advanced from 44 to 53, but he followed Olivier and Leech in falling to seamer Zak Chappell and off-spinner Matt Carter, both who claimed four wickets.

Olivier then cranked up the pressure on a side who have still not won a first-class fixture since June 2018.

Olivier trapped Chris Nash lbw before Leech had Haseeb Hameed caught behind down leg as the score fell to 16-2 after six overs.

Olivier’s first wicket was his 50th in first-class cricket for Yorkshire before the 450th of the 28-year-old’s career came when he had Ben Duckett superbly caught in the gully by a diving Dawid Malan having fended at a short ball.

That was the penultimate ball of the afternoon, and Notts were 46-3 after 12.5 overs.

Olivier struck again in the 17th when he had Joe Clarke caught and bowled with a ball that stopped in the pitch - 61-4. And wickets continued to tumble.

Notts captain Steven Mullaney edged Patterson behind at the end of the next over without addition to the scoreboard.

All-rounder Thompson then continued his brilliant start to the summer, striking with his third ball when he uprooted the middle and leg stumps of first-innings centurion Tom Moores, leaving the score at 74-6 in the 21st.

Shutt also struck in his first over when he trapped Peter Trego lbw (82-7 in the 24th over).

Thompson then had Chappell caught at mid-wicket by Shutt in the 27th and Carter lbw in the 29th to leave Notts in tatters at 97-9.

Shutt then wrapped up the win when Samit Patel chipped him to Malan at mid-wicket.
