THACKLEY and Silsden were the biggest winners in another round of behind closed doors pre-season friendlies.

The Dennyboys did, what Eccleshill United failed to do at the weekend, defeat Northern Premier League Premier Division team FC United of Manchester.

James Normanton's first half hat-trick helped Patrick McGuire's men achieve a 4-0 win in a glorious evening at Dennyfield.

The average age of the starting XI was 24 and they couldn't have got off to a better start when Normanton latched onto Lewis Waddington's cross in the opening minute.

The forward was in again short after, netting at the back post. He completed his trio by lifting over United stopper Josh Brookes before half time.

Thackley weren't finished there though and Asa Mitchell finished the scoring in the 50th-minute.

Silsden made it two wins in as many games as they followed up their win over Prestwich Heys by beating Ilkley Town 3-1.

Town took the lead on the 29th-minute through midfielder James Turland strike, but the Cobbydalers responded minutes later with a fine solo effort from Khurram Shazad.

On the stoke of half time, Shazad got another with a superb 25-yard chip over the Ilkley goalkeeper.

It was a tense affair until the last six minutes when Mark Everingham found substitute Chris Wademan who finished nicely.

It was another pre-season defeat for Eccleshill as they were beaten 5-0 at home to Ossett United. Ex-Bradford City million pound man George Green starring for Ossett in the mauling.

Finally, Brighouse Town beat a Huddersfield Academy side 3-0, thanks to goals from Alhassane Keita, James Hurtley and a trialist.
