IT was certainly a weekend to forget for Barnoldswick Town as they suffered a crushing 10-2 defeat at the hands of early North West Counties Premier Division table toppers Winsford United.

Sam Madeley was in fine form for the hosts, smashing an incredible five past the sorry Jack Little in the mauling.

Extraordinarily, it was Town who took the lead. Zack Dale converted from the spot to give the travelling supporters the perfect start.

Although, a couple of quickfire strikes from Madeley and Robert Hopley dented the visitors mood, Dale soon netted again to level up matters in what was a thrilling opening 25 minutes.

United then pushed into first gear by bagging three before the break. Madeley completed his hat-trick while Hopley also shot his way back onto the scoresheet.

Things just went from bad to worse for Endrit Shehu's side post the hour mark. In an eight-minute spell, Winsford's prolific twosome were in again to notch three more impressive finishes.

Madeley finished off his scoring endeavours for the afternoon and Hopley grabbed a stunning trio of his own from a penalty.

The home side were not finished there though. Andrew Lewis and Adam Barlow completed the rout which meant Barnoldswick have now conceded a painful 15 goals in only three matches so far this season.
