BARNOLDSWICK Town are making good progress in the FA Cup this season, or a virtual version of it at least.

Hopper & Son, a father and son groundhopping duo from down in Havant, Hampshire, are hosting it while there is no football on for our non-league sides.

Barlick were paired with north-east outfit Guisborough Town in the extra preliminary round and won 2-1 thanks to goals from Gareth Hill and Zack Dale.

Of course really, the game was decided by a public vote on Twitter, with Barlick picking up a 59.4 per cent share in comparison to Guisborough's 40.6.

They have advanced into the preliminary round as a result of their victory, where they will take on City of Liverpool.

That 'game' will take place this weekend.

In real life, Barlick played their own special part in this year's FA Cup.

They were beating Marine in the preliminary round thanks to a Zack Dale penalty, but conceded goals in the 87th minute and 90th minute to lose it 2-1 at the death.

Marine, no doubt inspired by that late comeback, went on an incredible run, making it all the way to the third round, before they were beaten 5-0 by Premier League heavyweights Tottenham Hotspur.
