BINGLEY TOWN made a disappointing start to the new year as they were thrashed 9-1 at high-flying Trawden Celtic Juniors in the Craven League Premier Division on Saturday.

Doubles from Jake Bancroft, Ben Gorman and, Jake Hart inflicted most of the damage on a young Bingley side, who have now lost all 11 of their league matches this season.

Ben Shaun, Callum Whitfield, and Mark Young also found the back of the net for Trawden, who move top of the table on goal difference, ahead of a tough tie at third-placed Grassington United next weekend.

With heavy rain and wintery conditions leaving many pitches unplayable, the only other match across the League saw Otley Town 4ths and Addingham Reserves face off in Division Three.

With the sides level at one apiece at the interval, Addingham turned the screw after the break, with goals from Kyle Moulson, Andy Sharpe, and Charlie Smith seeing them run out 3-1 victors.

Off the pitch, Premier Division AFC Barnoldswick suffered the first managerial departure of the year after Luke Scott resigned after two years in charge of the Lancashire club.

Advertising for a new Manager, a club statement thanked Scott for his service and asked for candidates who have a lot of patience, prior knowledge of running an amateur team, and the ability to bring new players to the club.

With just five rounds of the Craven League season remaining, Barnoldswick currently lie second in the Premier Division, ahead of their next match at Carleton Sports Club on Saturday.
