A SOLID defensive performance from North Ribblesdale set the foundations early on at home to Wheatley Hills, as they ran out 28-19 winners on Saturday.
Ribb started badly , failing to secure the kick off which lead to a penalty , the visitors going over after a midfield break for an unconverted try.Ribb regrouped and a lineout steal gave the space for Kyle Handy to make ground , the ball was carried on by Franky Brown,
Hills conceded a penalty converted by Mick Thwaite.There followed a spell of Hill's dominance but Ribb's defence was up to the task and Davidson made a break putting in Michael Robinson for an unconverted try on the right, 8-5.
Hills hit back almost immediately- mauling the ball over from a short range lineout for a converted try, 8-12 .Ribb responded immediately, with a try stemming from a break out of defence by Freddie Spencley, who displayed good handling and a well timed pass from Handy put Michael Robinson in for a half time score of 15-12.
Skipper Andy Thwaite went over for the hosts early in the second half, and Mick Thwaite converted a penalty to take the score to 23-23. A well worked try on the right gave the space for Frankie Brown to crash over to complete the scoring at 28-19 for Ribb.
