SKIPTON rounded off their Yorkshire Division Three season with an eight try victory, including a hat-trick from winger Ben Walker, gaining them a bonus league point to leave them mid-table on 62 points, with the final placings to be confirmed when all the teams have played their games in hand.

Skipton made a strong start into the breeze but a break against the run of play saw Skipton off-side at the break-down, allowing Otliensians to slot the penalty and open the scoring. An interception knock-on by Otliensians from the re-start gave Skipton the scrum in the visitors' 22 and Walker was in for Skipton's opening try. Skipper Hamish Munro at full-back added the extra points.

The Skipton front row of Steven Carroll, Charlie Brown and veteran prop Chris Wright, playing his last game for Skipton after 21 seasons with the club, took the next scrum against the head. The ball was shipped out to Walker again but he was brought down on the line. An incident off the ball saw Skipton centre Chris Wilkinson yellow carded. This unsettled the home side and they conceded a goal-line drop out from a kick through by Otliensians. From a further break-away kick and chase, the visitors scored a converted try to take the lead at 10-7.

Walker added his second try just before half-time. The conversion attempt fell short and Skipton went into the break with a 12-10 lead.

An early second half incident saw Wright yellow carded but the Skipton team hit form and a third try soon followed from winger Toby Crook. Skipton took the scrum against the head again, McEneaney broke from No. 8 and came close but the last pass was adjudged forward. Skipton took the scrum again and the ball went through many phases before forward Anthony Chapman was over for try number four. Reynoldson added the extra points. Four more tries followed and Skipton marched on to a 52-10 victory.
