CRAVEN Badminton Club held a special awards afternoon for its club members on Sunday 8 May 2022.

Craven BC has over 70 members, split across all ages groups, from juniors aged 7 upwards to seniors. The junior club plays on Fridays 6.45pm-7.45pm from September to April and the senior club plays on Wednesdays from 7.45pm-9.45pm, all year round, with league matches being played on Wednesdays, with extra match night on Fridays, starting from October 2022. Competitive play is open to all juniors and seniors who are interested.

Juniors can play in the M65 Lancashire League and the seniors can play in the two men's teams in the Craven League and Bradford League and composite teams (men and women mixed) in the Craven League. In addition, Craven BC members can take part in local tournaments. In the 2021-22 season, Craven BC men's team won the Craven League Division 2 title, leading to promotion to Division 1 and additionally, a Craven BC men's team won the Bradford League Men's Division 5 title in its first year in the Bradford League.

Sunday's awards celebrated both juniors' and seniors' achievements with trophies awarded by honourable guests, Linda Treitl and Mike Orrell.

The club have recognised the significant commitment of both Linda & Mike for their encouragement and development of the club's junior players for over a decade, which continues to influence future generations of badminton players.

In honour of these contributions, Craven BC has created 2 annual trophies in each of their names. Linda and Mike presented the following Craven BC awards: JUNIOR AWARDS 2021-22 Most Thoughtful Junior Award - recognising juniors who have actively considered other players, by willingly volunteering and helping in the development of others.
