FOUR of the top six teams in Division One of the Craven League have made it through to the semi-finals of the Wynn Cup.

Denholme, who are sixth in the top flight, had the most comprehensive victory, defeating Ingrow by 171 runs at Hainworth Lane.

The hosts opted to field and saw the visitors pile up 211-3 in their 40 overs.

Denholme lost Hussnain Ali and Adam Vaux early but Ryan Clark (80no), skipper Richard Taylor (36) and keeper Callum Gerrard (66no) led the revival.

Clark hit 10 fours in his 101-ball stay, adding 76 with his captain before putting on 104 unbroken with Gerrard, whose innings only lasted 47 balls and included five fours and four sixes.

Ingrow’s opening bowlers Atif Malik and Shahid Ajmal returned tidy figures considering, but then all four Denholme bowlers surpassed them as the home side were skittled for 71.

Only Ajmal (19) and Malik (12) reached double figures as Tim Shires (5-14) kept Ingrow in check.

League leaders Bingley Congs posted the next-best score after Denholme, making 154-8 at home to Haworth, who sent them in.

Danny Pearson (45) and Johandre Barnard (45) put on 70 for the first wicket as the showers were dodged.

But after that, only Neil Copping (19) and Matty Roberts (28no) made double figures as overseas player Ethan Gouws (4-15) kept them in check alongside Damian Rowell.

Haworth’s reply never got off the ground, with only Jacob Stephens (28), Damian Rowell (15) and skipper James Roper (11) troubling the scorers to any degree as they were rolled over for 71.

Copping took 3-24, captain Mohammad Adil 4-22 and Harry Greenhalgh 3-7.

In the other two ties, Gargrave and Oakworth were not set challenging targets and won at a canter.

Four of Wilsden’s top five got starts but didn’t go on, and incredibly made all of the 65 runs that they scored off the bat, with the other four runs being extras.

Bradley Powell took 4-33 and the in-form Tom Fothergill 4-10, giving him 10 wickets over the weekend.

Powell then scored 25, with fellow opener Jake Keslinke making 33 not out as Oakworth won by nine wickets in just six overs.

Barrowford struggled to 106-9 at home to Gargrave, a total that was boosted by Aamir Mohammed’s 20.

George Beckwith (3-25) led the visitors’ attack, and his brother John then took over with the bat, hitting an unbeaten 59 as Gargrave won by eight wickets with a ball remaining of the 16th over.

Beckwith hit nine fours, and added 71 for the second wicket with Matthew Simpson (33), who was out just before victory was achieved.

Congs will now be at home to Denholme in the semi-finals on Sunday, July 3, with Oakworth hosting Gargrave on the same date.
