GARGRAVE are fourth in Mewies Solicitors Craven League Division One after easily defeating Cowling.

The visitors won the toss but could only total 89, and Mohammed Shah Usman made 40 of those, with Rahman Ali scoring 25 as they added 43 for the fifth wicket.

Cowling collapsed from 70-4, with John Beckwith taking 3-25 and Will Smith 4-21.

Beckwith then scored 41 as Gargrave won by six wickets, despite Naqi Hassan’s 3-27.

Sent in at Sutton, Ingrow scored 126, with Ben Middleton (3-26) and Alistair Wallace (4-18) in the wickets for cellar-dwelling hosts, who were castled for 70, with only three men in double figures.

In Division Two, Glusburn are now third, just a point behind Eldwick & Gilstead, after winning a ball-dominated contest at Skipton CI.

The visitors were 80-7 but managed to post 133, thanks to keeper James Tillotson (28no) as Azhar Iqbal bagged 4-27 and Rob Cockell 3-28.

CI were then rolled over for 52 by Irfan Khaliq (5-14) and Tamoor Munir (3-0) as Nikhil Thomas scored 19 and Cockell 20.

Silsden are also in the promotion picture, being only seven points behind E&G in fourth after a decent contest at Foulridge.

The Cobbydalers won the toss and made 214, with opener Rob Jones (66) and No 10 Joshua Waind (53) who cracked seven fours and three sixes, topping and tailing their efforts.

Lewis Middleton (19no) gave Waind support in a ninth-wicket partnership of 82, and the wickets were shared after tea as Foulridge replied with 184-9, Middleton taking 4-52.

Bradley’s decision to bat misfired big time at home to Long Lee as they were skittled for 32, with only the redoubtable Toby Meynell (12) reaching double figures.

However, Long Lee lost six wickets in passing that small target, Meynell taking 5-13 as the Keighley side moved within two points of their opponents.

Cononley were one of the few sides to top 200, making 205 after winning the toss at home to Wilsden II in Division Three.

Tom Feather (58), skipper Nathan Parker (38) and Harry Parker (38) led the way, contributing to two half-century stands, and Feather (4-28) and Willie Naylor (3-24) then restricted the visitors to 132.

Leaders Thornton-in-Craven were again in a rush, dismissing hosts Cowling II for 74, 44 of which were scored by Martyn Dalby as Jack Laycock took 5-23.

Thornton knocked them off for one down with a ball remaining of the 16th over, with keeper Rob Foster 34 not out

That leaves Cononley in second place, 21 points adrift, but Oakworth II are pushing them hard after an eight-wicket home success over Gargrave II.

The visitors were toppled for 59, with skipper Neil Plummer top-scoring with 14, and Oakworth won by eight wickets.

Runs were no hardship for Skipton CI II’s, however, as they made 243-8 after winning the toss at Long Lee II.

Darren Pighills (70) and Mel Seward (58) put on 129 for the first wicket, and No 4 Steve Davidson weighed in with an unbeaten 61.

Long Lee II were then dismissed for 94, with Pighills completing a fine match by taking 4-18.

In Division Four, Glusburn II are off the mark, and how, after scoring 300-7 at home to Sutton II.

Tahir Mehmood (58), Theo Ray (47), skipper Mark Pickles (37) and keeper Richard Parkin (91no) were the leading lights in Glusburn’s run-fest as Ben Seward took 3-90 and Josh Franklin 3-43.

Sutton, who won the toss, replied with 150-5, of which Jack Middleton made 42 not out, Phil Edwards 38 and Tom Simpson 22 not out.
