Friday's relentless rain led to the postponement of five fixtures in the Devonshire Carpets Craven League while heavy pitches were reported at most grounds. Teams also had to battle against the high winds on Saturday.

There was League Cup action at the quarter-final stage with Rolls Royce suffering a 5-1 home reversal to Oakworth while Earby Town needed extra time to see off Cononley Sports Reserves 7-5 after thrashing them 12-1 only three weeks ago.

Another tie that required extra time was at Silsden Whitestar, who were 3-2 victors over Settle United Reserves.

Skipton LMS progressed in the Northern Plant Hire Trophy with a 3-1 home win over Clitheroe Lions while in the Premier Division Carl Stanford's hat-trick paved the way for Hellifield to beat their neighbours Gargrave 4-2.

Grassington United won again with a 2-1 home victory over Embsay who remain second bottom while Skipton Town gained a good 2-2 draw at Oxenhope.

In Division One Gargrave Reserves won 7-3 at Carleton with Horton and Skipton LMS Reserves sharing six goals in Division Two with Carl Osadzenko's hat-trick giving Skipton Town Reserves a 3-1 home win over Rolls Royce Reserves.

Barnoldswick Barons regain the leadership of Division Three with a 3-1 win over Oakworth Reserves while Skipton Town A came from a 3-0 down at half-time to win at Earby Town Reserves by 7-4.

In the Premier Division Gargrave had most of the early play despite playing against a gale force wind but Hellifield were soon on the attack and were 3-0 up at the break.

Gargrave pulled two goals back through Harry Thompson, one with a header and the second a deft chip but Hellifield scored again to deny their local rivals. Carl Stanford scored a hat-trick and Daniel Mellor was on target for the home team.

The gale force wind and sticky pitch made good football virtually impossible at Carleton in Division One where the visitors, Gargrave Reserves, secured a 7-3 win. Al Tudhope was the Man of the Match with Gargrave's scorers Ben Brown (3), Joel Timmins (2), Alex Dawson and Christian Moon.

In the League Cup Rolls Royce limped out of the competition with 5-1 home defeat to Oakworth, a team that they had beaten twice this season.

The wind played a major role with both sides battling to control the ball and by half-time Rolls were 3-0 down.

But with the wind advantage were expecting to pull back the goals, however they failed to make the chances and it was Oakworth who increased the lead with two further goals. Kenny Stewart did score a consolation goal with a header but this was a miserable performance by the home team.

In Division Two Horton overcame a 3-0 first half deficit to draw with visitors Skipton LMS Reserves. In another game where the wind blew straight down the field LMS took advantage with three first half goals, the roles being reversed when Horton scored three through Carl Johnson, Frank Jackson and a 30-yard screamer from Gary Lodge.

Skipton Town Reserves made it three successive wins against their opponents Rolls Royce Reserves with a Carl Osadzenko hat-trick earning a 3-1 win.

Town had taken the lead and Rolls levelled just before half-time when a poorly taken free-kick from David Tullett was misjudged by the Town keeper and ended up in the net.

Town had the wind advantage in the second half and pressured Rolls into conceding a penalty which was converted. Both teams missed simple chances before a route one ball gave Osadzenko the chance to claim his hat-trick and seal a Town win.

In the League Cup Earby Town were given a tough game by Cononley Sports Reserves, who on their last visit to Sough Park had conceded 12 goals.

Paul Oldroyd gave Town the lead after 20 minutes and brother James increased the lead with a header but the visitors came back with a goal for a half-time score of 2-1.

Earby were soon scoring again through Gavin Garbutt and Paul Oldroyd extended the lead only for a Earby player to score an own goal. A scrambled Cononley goal gave them hope only for penalty by James Oldroyd to restore the two goal advantage.

Two quick goals by Cononley took the tie into extra time but Earby gained the upper hand when James Oldroyd completed his hat-trick and the same player sealed the tie with his fourth goal of the game.

The visitors had played their part in a pulsating match but will be disappointed that they had two players were dismissed in the later stages. Scorers were Charles Calvert (2), youngster Jordan Halliday and Wayne Fisher.

In Division Three League Cup Settle United Reserves also went to extra time on a heavy pitch at Silsden Whitestar before losing 3-2.

Ian Wildman had given Settle the lead from the penalty spot only for the same player to concede a penalty from which Silsden equalised. It was then Settle's turn to come from behind to equalise through Robbie Preston but it was not their day, losing the tie in extra time before a Silsden crowd whose antics left a lot to desired.

In the league Skipton Town A were 7-4 winners at Earby Town Reserves having been 3-0 down at half-time.

In a game of two halves with the strong wind in control and both teams battled to overcome the elements. Earby had first use of the wind and scored three times with credit going to the Skipton defence for their hard work in restricting Earby.

Skipton responded well after the break and following two goals from Ryan Jackson and a third from Craig Johnson they were soon level. Matthew Cavanagh scored direct from a corner and a fifth followed when Andy Cooke broke to score. The sixth was scored by Town goalkeeper Robert Suter whose wind assisted kick went straight into the opposite net and the scoring for Skipton was wrapped by with Cavanagh his second.

Earby did pull a goal back in the final minute and scorers were Jay Farrell (2), John Coates and Paul Hooper.
