ON Friday 10 February, an amazing team of around 230 cyclists will call at Wharfedale RUFC on a pit stop on the ride from Cardiff to Murrayfield for Doddie Aid and the fight against MND.

This has been an annual event for a few years, but with the recent death of Doddie Weir, it has grown quite remarkably. It will be circa 350 participants (with about 230 cyclists with remainder driving support vehicles) who are looking to cycle in teams of four from Cardiff to Murrayfield.

Rob Wainwright (ex Scotland and British Lion) will be leading a core team who attempt to cycle the whole 555 miles individually in less than 60 hours! They will be carrying the match ball for the Scotland v Wales Six Nations game.

Martin Johnson, who was captain of the 1997 Lions team, will be leading a team of Lions. Doddie Weir’s three sons are also doing the event.

The first bike riders will get to the club at 1.30pm, with the last leaving at 4.30pm. Rob Wainwright will be due at around 2.45pm. All support will be welcome.
