SETTLE Cricket Club junior side has now reached the end of a very fruitful 2023 season, having played 92 junior matches with 63 children playing pairs cricket and 57 playing standard hardball cricket.

Players have represented Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, North West Cricket League, and Upper Airedale Junior Cricket League.

The Junior Side have won the Girls' Championship, Hardball Pairs Northern Conference, and the Barritt Stephenson u11s Cup.

The u13s toured Carlisle and Lancaster, and hosted Appleby Eden.

The club has also hosted three, very successful junior camps over the summer, with over 50 children involved.

Settle CC strives to encourage all boys and girls to have a go and get involved. Michelle Davidson, manager of the Softball Development Team, added that over the season not only have the team members supported each other, but they have shown the utmost respect to their opposition, and have represented the club superbly.

This season, the girls at Settle CC have flourished immensely. Julia Graham, manager of Girls Championship Softball team, has said she is honestly so proud of the girls and how far they've come this season. Settle CC hopes to encourage more girls to join the club next season, following the continued successes of the girls' teams and mixed teams this year.

In closing, a word from the club's Junior Chairman, Ian Walker, said: "I have really enjoyed my first season as Settle Cricket Club's Junior Chair. It is great to see the junior side of the club going from strength to strength and to see so many young boys and girls enjoying cricket. Next season should see even more teams, an All-Stars programme and girls' hardball cricket. Come along and join in.”
