The Craven Football Association will be celebrating its centenary next year with several events planned including a sponsored cycle ride which will see riders visit all the grounds in the Craven FA area.

In commemoration several events are planned over the next few months including a sponsored cycle ride by executive member Dave Walker, Martin Exley and his 17-year-old son Oliver, who was a member of the Craven Minors squad last season and a back up team including Oliver's mum Mel.

The route will take in all football clubs within the Craven FA area from Cononley in the south via West Craven, Ribble Valley to Sedbergh in the north concluding in Skipton.

The FA are looking for sponsorship from clubs and the public. A competition will be held to guess the total mileage and number of hours cycled over the three days of the weekend from Friday, August 1, to Sunday, August 3. Anyone who may be interested in joining the riders should contact Martin Exley on 01756 794544.

Other events earmarked by the centenary committee include a cricket/football day, race night, a sportsman forum and a centenary dinner at the Rendezvous Hotel in Skipton on Friday, June 26, 2009, when 150 guests are expected to attend.

However the biggest event to organise outside the dinner is a football exhibition and souvenir booklet to be staged next year charting the 100 years of Craven FA football.

Due to the alterations to Skipton Town Hall during 2009 alternative accommodation has been arranged to stage the exhibition at Christ Church School Room, Skipton, from July 24 to August 1, 2009, and at The Folly, Settle, from August 14 to the end of October 2009.

While there has been a steady response for football memorabilia, anyone who may have any items of interest for the exhibition please contact Allan Cawood 01756 794077 or David Town 01756 749730.
