The well-supported Mixed Open, the first event of Ghyll’s Open Fortnight, was held on Sunday, with home pairings making the most of their local knowledge to dominate the leaderboard.
John Dawson and Susan Tattersall (41 points) were the runaway winners from Derick Hartley and Hilary Hardaker, who were second with 37 points on a countback from S Robert Mortimer and Barbara Chapman. Skipton’s junior team made the short journey to Bracken Ghyll and kept up their push for promotion back into Division One with a 5-3 victory.
Sam Reeves was the only casualty, losing 4&3. Jessica Holden was two down with three to play and squared the match on the 18th. Robert Nesbitt won 5&3 and Harry McEneaney won 7&5.
Skipton are at home to Baildon on Sunday, July 18.
