WINTER League leader Peter Wroe set off in great form at Settle's Stableford competition last weekend.
After rolling in a long putt for a birdie three on the fourth hole he also birdied the difficult par five ninth, to give him 21 points on the front nine.
However, Peter Dransfield almost matched Wroe's efforts by scoring 20 points.
Both players couldn't quite reproduce their early form over the final nine holes.
Wroe struggled off the tee while Dransfield dropped points on three holes.
This enabled the wily old Colin Green to pip both players because of his greater consistency. Green's 36 points putting him in first place on countback.
Other competitors who added to their Winter League points tally were Mike Elstub and Ian Plimmer, who would have both been pleased with their efforts in difficult playing conditions.
