ITALIAN chef Gennaro Contaldo today wowed the crowds as he gave a cookery demonstration at the Bradford Food and Drink Festival.

The sell-out demonstration was also attended by the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Joanne Dodds.

The festival, run by Bradford Council, features about 50 stalls and continues tomorrow with a guest appearance by Coronation Street actor turned award-winning cheese maker Sean Wilson.

The Council has been working with businesses and Jamie’s Ministry of Food to bring a wide range of stalls with high-quality local produce, and a programme of exciting street entertainment, featuring performances from Bradford College students.

The festival also marks the sixth anniversary of Jamie’s Ministry of Food in Bradford.

Diana Greenwood, markets promotions and marketing officer at the local authority, said: "We have some fantastic food and drink stalls lined up for the festival, so as well as the great stalls in the nearby Oastler Centre and the bars in the Independent Quarter, there’ll be something for everyone."

Children will tomorrow also have the chance to get creative with various Halloween arts and crafts, try a devilish pumpkin design workshop, enjoy freaky face-painting, or take part in a ghoulish ghost hunt.

Adults can also enter the ghost hunt to be in with a chance of winning prizes including a mobile phone, shopping vouchers, and signed cookery books.
