Bradford actress Natalie Anderson is set to debut her first single at the district’s largest bonfire event.

Natalie, 25, known to millions of viewers as feisty nurse Stella Davenport in ITV medical drama The Royal, is hoping her first single, Did I?, will prove a hit with residents at Bingley’s Myrtle Park bonfire extravaganza this Saturday.

She said: “I am really nervous, but I am really looking forward to it as well.

“I used to go to Myrtle Park bonfire and I was a dancer with The Pulse. I always wished I was up there singing and this year I am.

“I am really excited – Bradford has always been really good to me and I just hope everybody will enjoy it.”

Natalie, who has written the songs for her Return To Me album, which will be released on November 24, hopes to be as successful as her fellow Bradfordian, Kimberley Walsh, of Girls Aloud.

Natalie said: “It doesn’t surprise me that people like Kimberley, Chris Fountain, Gareth Gates and Andrew-Lee Potts have done so well.

“We have great stage schools and great theatres to get involved with. I was always up against Kimberley at auditions and I used to think ‘oh no’ because she is so talented.

“I am so proud of everybody for doing so well and I am proud of Bradford, my family live there and I visit regularly.”

The £20,000 bonfire extravaganza has once again been organised by Baildon Round Table, which has hosted the event for more than a decade. Money from ticket sales is ploughed back in to the community to support local causes.

Dominic De Luca, secretary of the Round Table, said: “We have had a lot of interest on our website and we hope Natalie will help bring even more people to the event.

“From last year’s money, we helped pay for a kitchen at Baildon Link and funded people going on charity trips.

“This year’s event will be in exactly the same format as last year, with a 30-minute fireworks display.

“We made a lot of changes to the event last year and it worked much better with helping to control congestion.”

Sergeant Diane Collins, of the Bingley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The team will be conducting high-visibility patrols over the bonfire period to provide reassurance to the public.”

Thousands of people are expected to take part at the Bingley event. The fire will be lit at 7pm and the fireworks start at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £5 for adults. There is no charge for children under the age of 12.
